But when Jersey suddenly finds herself in desperate need of medical care that she canโ€™t afford, Truck does the only thing he can think of to helpโ€ฆ he marries her.

Jersey has been struggling to keep her and her sister afloat ever since their dad was sent to jail. The pain she feels on a regular basis isnโ€™t anything she can stop to think about until she ends up at the E.R. in the protective arms of the one man who makes her pulse beat faster than the superheroes she worships.

When chaos invades their lives, their temporary deal starts to crumble, leaving hearts and souls twined together in such a way that thereโ€™s little chance of escape without permanent damage. Unless they just surrender to it all and let love heal them both.

From award-winning author, LJ Evans, comes a novel inspired by Lady Antebellumโ€™s โ€œOceanโ€ about resilience and love. You donโ€™t want to miss this slow burn, military romance.

โ€œExcuse me?โ€ I asked because I was sure Iโ€™d heard him wrong.

He dragged a hand over his face. โ€œSorry. Screwed that up. Let me try again.โ€

Try again? He was going to ask me to marry him in a different way? I looked around, expecting Violet to be filming this as some weird prank to post on her social media accounts.

โ€œI was thinking,โ€ he started, and this time, I could tell he was nervous.

โ€œStop. Donโ€™t. Whatever youโ€™re going to say, just donโ€™t. You donโ€™t even know me.โ€

This seemed to knock him out of whatever apprehensive state he was in, because he chuckled. A slow rumble that bubbled its way across my frame and made me want to lean in and taste it. Taste him and his joy. But it certainly didnโ€™t make me want to marry him.

โ€œJesus. I really am doing this all wrong. Can we sit down?โ€

I stared at him for a moment. โ€œHave you been drinking?โ€

Our dad used to say some really bizarre things when he was drunk. Tony Stark had done some pretty stupid things when heโ€™d been drunk. Drunk and men were a series of bad choices and decisions.

Book Review: The SEAL’s Baby Deal by Katie Knight

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Navy SEAL David Hettinger has never wanted kidsโ€”not with his jobโ€ฆand not with a past that has shown love isnโ€™t for him. But when his lifelong best friend, Eleanor Thornton, shows up looking gorgeous and asking for a big favor, heโ€™ll have to rethink his stance on playing Baby Daddy.

Wildlife photographer Ele knows she wants a babyโ€”romantic partner not included. A heartbreaking marriage and messy divorce have her convinced that a traditional family is not for her. And who better to make a no-strings-attached baby with than her BFF David? He has zero interest in parenthood or a serious relationship. Besides, sheโ€™s always wondered what it would feel like to be wrapped up in those sexy, alpha male armsโ€ฆ

When their babymaking soon leads to a positive pregnancy test, David and Ele are each secretly disappointed that their contracted time is cut short. Especially after David is deployed, leaving Ele to give birth to their daughter on her own. Its only when she reunites with David while on assignment in the African rainforest that their passion that never went away is reignited. But when the area is gripped by a dangerous insurgency, all of Davidโ€™s fears about getting too close come rushing back. How can he possibly have a future with Ele when he canโ€™t guarantee theyโ€™ll survive the day?

Love is lifeโ€™s greatest adventure in this sizzling SEAL romantic suspense from Katie Knight!

My Review:

*Spoilers alert*

OK, so what’s up with Ele? Like, you’re in the middle of danger, literally in an almost war zone and you’re being stubborn. And David? Break the rules for once in your life dammit!!!!

These two characters seemed like total opposites, yet they love each other for who and what they are, being friends their whole life seemed to make it easy to do just that. So when David runs into Ele and his daughter Rose, he can’t help but want them in his life. Ele, having put specific terms in the contract, made David a little weary of getting to know his daughter.

I think Ele knew exactly what she was doing when she set the terms of the contract and David, even though he was skeptical signed on the dotted line because let’s face it, he would’ve done anything for her.

It’s a story of friendship and unconditional love. David wasn’t taught how to love, he was taught that he needed to earn someone’s love. Ele accepted him her whole life, then turned it upside down with that damn contract.

I like the fact that there was some suspense to the book. Being in a war zone, having to hide. Being stopped by the insurgents. Although Ele could’ve been a little less of a brat and more protective of her daughter especially knowing that David would never let anything happen to either of them. That kinda got on my nerves about her.

I always enjoy a good military romance. This was an enjoyable read.
